The 2009 season is in the books. The all-star games are over. Signing day has come and past. And now...well spring practice is still over a month away and the spring "game" is the next time we'll see the team. An actual football game is still over 200 days away. Another Walk-on?

This was tweeted by @CaliHawki and (UPDATE) I have now seen this on some message boards, but the news is that Michael Stoeker, an offensive tackle from Johnston, has committed to walk-on next year for the Hawkeyes. Stoeker was on the All-CIML Conference Team as a senior and helped his team to a 6-5 record. He certainly has a size for an OT at 6'5" 300-lbs (you can see pictures of him here). With such a large group of offensive linemen graduating, it's always good to pick up more, so it's good hear that another in-state guy is headed to Iowa.

I am still working on the formatting a bit and am having a really hard time restoring any previous comments that had been made. Once I get that done though, I think commenting on this site should be much better.

Incoming Impact Freshman

Kirk Ferentz is not known for having a penchant to play true freshman, but he has when necessary, or when a player earned it. Looking forward to 2010 I see a similar year with only a small handful of true freshmen getting any playing time.

Blake Haluska to walk-on for the Hawkeyes

Amidst the signing day excitement Iowa picked up another walk-on commitment from in-state quarterback Blake Haluska. Yes, he's the brother of former Iowa Basketball player Adam Haluska. And yes, he's the star of Huck Finn, a Caroll High School American Literature Class Production, playing the role of "Pap."
